Mānuka (also known as the New Zealand teatree) is native to New Zealand and Australia, and most famous for the honey which is produced from the flowers – believed to have excellent medicinal properties. The flowers are small and generally pink or white, while the leaves are tough and spiky.
Winika is a species of epiphytic orchid endemic to New Zealand, which grows on forest trees, fallen logs and cliff faces. The name comes from 'Te Winika' a sacred Māori war canoe (waka) constructed from a hollowed out Tōtara tree that had this orchid growing on it.
Climbing Rātā is a forest vine with striking crimson flowers and small glossy leaves. Endemic to New Zealand it can grow up to 15 meters long and is mostly found lowland forests in the northern part of the country.
Kōtukutuku (New Zealand tree fuchsia) is the largest species of Fuchsia in the world, growing up to 15m tall. The flowers are purple and produce an unusual bright blue pollen which was traditionally used by Māori women as makeup.
